Recent progress

With the cooler months upon us, progress has slightly stalled. The shed has been cool at night so the motivation has been down. As it warms up, Lindsay is gradually returning to the overhauling. Watch the latest.....

Deconstruction Begins!

Yes, you read correct. Now it is time to take apart the jeeps and work out what parts can be used and what needs replacing.

The first jeep has a great engine so that is a winner. It means the jeep will have an original Willy's jeep engine.

The second jeep has an excellent chassis. Not a bar of rust to be seen - so yep, we've got another winner.

So out comes the engine and gearbox on the first one and time to totally strip the second jeep down to the chassis.

Hot Body!

This was an amazing find. Lindsay just happened to be looking on the Trading Post, when he came across a brand new Willy's Jeep Body. It came with all the mud guards, hood and entire body. We quickly rushed over to Carindale to pick it up from a gentleman who had been intending to build a jeep but just didn't have the time. It wasn't cheap, but it will look a lot better than bogging up one of the old bodies.

The Jeep arrives home!

It was good to see the Jeep home. We drove straight through from Rockhampton with the jeep on the back of the car trailer. Although it was raining we just took it slow and steady.

Now it is safe and sound away in the shed. There is a lot of bog in the body on closer inspection. The canvas on the canopy and the seats will need recovering and replacing.

It is great having the two jeeps at home to work on!

Collected 2nd Doner Jeep from Rockhampton

Through a friend, we were able to source a second Jeep. This time it was in Rockhampton. It was a seven hour drive from Banyo with our hired car trailer on the back of the trusty Hilux ute.

We stayed the night at the Travelodge, in a room that looked out on the swollen Fitzroy River. Rockhampton was in the middle of flooding when we went.

The next morning we got to meet the Jeep. It had come down from Proserpine. The owner had agreed to meet us as far as Rockhampton.

We loaded it up on the trailer and headed back to Banyo. We knew we were on a winner because every time we stopped to get fuel or food, people would come up and have a chat about the jeep and what our plans were for it.

This is the start of "Project Jeep".

We wanted to build a Jeep to be used as a daily car for work. Although we are real estate agents, we really don't like driving BMW's or flashy cars. Something with a bit of personality that will be recognised is more our style.

We won this on Ebay, it was located at Caboulture. Hiding beneath this harsh exterior were the bones of a great jeep. This is just the start.......
